An entrepreneur named Richard claimed to convert to Islam at the An-Nahdlah Mosque, the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), Jakarta, Tuesday (6/3). Chairman of PBNU KH Said Aqil Siroj guided the man to read the shahada on the sidelines of the activities of Istighosah and Public Discussion held by the Central Leader of Pencak Silat NU Pagar Nusa.
Kiai Said said that being Muslim is easy. At least, must believe God as Lord and Prophet Muhammad as the messenger of God. This belief in God also includes his unmarried nature, no children, and no father.
In addition, Al-Tsaqafah Boarding School’s caretaker, Ciganjur, South Jakarta also explained the advantages of Islam with its Qur’an. Because it is almost 1500 years old, the Muslim holy book does not change even a single point. The authenticity of the Qur’an, says Kiai Said, is guarded by hundreds of thousands of memorizers.
“The Qur’an is easy to memorize, good memorized. Anyone, not just Arabs. Indonesians who do not understand the Arabic language can quickly copy the Qur’an, “he said.
The speed of memorizing the Qur’an is not necessarily the same as memorizing other Arabic texts.
In addition, in terms of content, the Qur’an always matches the findings in this scientific era. For example, it has alluded to the earth round. Kiai Said also exemplified the drowning of Pharaoh in the Red Sea, then his body was saved. He quotes Surah al-Taubah verse 92.
From that verse, the Qur’an mentions the Pharaoh Ramses II drowned in the Red Sea saved his body. In fact, Pharaoh’s mummy was only discovered in 1898 AD
“In one study, Pharaoh’s body was said to contain salt,” says Kiai Said.
With the results of a study led by the French surgeon Maurice Bucaille, Pharaoh was found to have sunk in the Red Sea.
After pronouncing the shahada, the prayer was offered by Vice Rais’ Aam PBNU, KH Miftahul Akhyar. And Kiai Said gave Richard an additional name before him, Muhammad.
