In the authentic hadith of Qudsi, Allah Ta’ala says: “O my servants, all of you are lost except those whom I guide, then seek guidance from Me I will guide you. (Muslim Muslim no 2577).
Allah Ta’ala, said:
من يهد الله فهو المهتدى ومن يضلل فأولئك هم الخسرون
“Whosoever is guided by God, he shall be guided: and whosoever shall lead astray by Allah, they shall be the losers.” (Surah Al-A’raf 7: Verse 178)
Allah commands us in every rakaat of prayer to always ask Him for guidance to the straight path in the Surah al-Fatiha which is the greatest sura in the Qur’an, because of the immensity and the urgency of man’s need for God’s guidance.
Allah Ta’ala, said:
“Give us guidance to a straight path”.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: “A servant is always in urgent need of this prayer (in the verse), because there is no salvation from the punishment (Hell) and the attainment of happiness (eternal in Heaven) except with the guidance of Allah. So whoever does not get this guidance means that he is among those who are wrathful of God (like the Jews) or lost people (like the Christians). ”
Imam Ibnul Qayyim rahimahullah said: “A servant desperately needs a guidance at all times and his breath, in all (deeds) done or abandoned. Because the servant is in some cases that he can not escape from it.
The important lesson for us is that Hidayah is God’s right and even the Prophet is incapable of giving guidance to his own uncle, Abu Talib.
And we know together that Uncle Prophet so great defense of Islam, taking care and protect the Prophet from the age of 8 years until the time of Nabian.
As the hadith narrated in Sahih Al Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, from Ibn Al Musayyab, his father (Al Musayyab) said: ‘When Abu Talib will die, the Messenger of Allaah alaihi wa sallam rushes to him.
And then, ‘Abdullah ibn Abu Umayyah and Abu Jahl were at his side. He sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said to him:
“O my uncle. Say la ilaha illallah; a sentence that I can make a defense for you before God, ‘.
However, ‘Abdullah ibn Abu Umayyah and Abu Jahl replied with the saying:
‘Do you (Abu Talib) hate the religion of Abdul Muttalib?’.
Then the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam repeated his sabdles again. But they both repeat the words. So the end of the word he says, that he is still above the religion of Abdul Muttalib and reluctant to pronounce La ilaha illallah. Then the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “Truly, I will ask forgiveness for you, as long as I am not forbidden”. Then Allah Ta’ala lowers His word:
ما كان للنبي والذين آمنوا الجحيم 9: 113
“It is not fitting for the Prophet and the believers to ask forgiveness for the idolaters even though the polytheists are his kinsfolk, after it is clear to them that the polytheists are the inhabitants of hell” . [At Taubah / 9: 113]
For that let us always read the prayer that Allah always delegate hidayah to us, as the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam taught.
يا مقلب القلوب, ثبت قلبي على دينك
O Rabb who turns the heart, confidence in your religion. (HR At-Tirmidhi 3522)
اللهم ثبتني واجعلني هاديا مهديا
O Allah, establish me, make me a guide and be guided (by You). (Narrated by Al-Bukhari no 6333)
