A new study proves that the more a person memorizes Al-Qur’an Al-Karim, the better the health. Dr. Salih bin Ibrahim Ash-Shani ‘, professor of psychology at Al-Imam bin Saud Al-Islamiyyah University, Riyadh, examined two groups of respondents, namely King Abdul Abdul Aziz University’s 170 respondents, and Al-Imam Asy -Syathibi which also amounted to 170 respondents.
Researchers define psychological health as a condition in which individual psychic coherence occurs from three main factors: religious, spiritual, sociological, and physical. To measure it, researchers used psychological health parameters of Sulaiman Duwairiat, which consists of 60 units.
This study found a positive correlation between increased levels of memory with the level of psychological health, and students who excel in the field of memorization of the Qur’an has a level of psychic health with a very clear difference.
There are more than seventy studies, whether Islamic or foreign, all of which affirm the urgency of religion in improving one’s psychic health, maturity and calmness. As various studies in Saudi Arabia come to a result that confirms the role of Al-Qur’an Al-Karim in improving the basic skills of primary school students, and the positive influence of Qur’anic recitation to achieve high IP for students.
The study provides a clear picture of the relation between religion and its various forms, especially memorizing Al-Qur’an Al-Karim, and its effects on the health of individual psychics and their personality, compared to individuals who are not disciplined with religious teachings, or not memorizing the Qur’an, little or all.
