WWW.PRIBUMI.WIN, Tanjung Enim – A man was arrested while trying to crash his car into a crowd in front of a mosque in Paris.
According to police, the incident took place at 6:30 pm Paris time on Thursday, June 29, 2017. The scene is located in the suburb of Creteil. No one was hurt in the event.
Quoted from the BBC on Friday (30/06/2017), the action of the man failed because there are some obstacles placed in front of the mosque.
The motive of the man is still unclear. However, the newspaper Le Parisien said the Armenian descendant wanted to avenge Islam-related attacks in Paris.
The incidence of hit cars into the crowd has become a trend in Europe in the past year. Many events are claimed to be associated with ISIS.
Police said in a statement that the suspect’s 4×4 vehicle repeatedly bumped into bollards and barriers designed to protect mosques in the southeastern suburbs of the French capital.
The car darted down and crashed into the barrier until it crumbled. The man fled before being caught shortly afterwards.
The offender is not acting on the influence of drugs or alcohol, writes Le Parisien.
The French-language newspaper reported the suspect had said he wanted to avenge an attack on Bataclan and Champs-Élysées theaters. Both are associated with ISIS.
France has remained under an emergency since an attack on the capital in November 2015 killed 130 people, including the Bataclan theater.
In April, a gunman killed police officer Xavier Jugelé in the Champs-Élysées before being shot dead. A note defending ISIS was found near his body.
